Daniel Arsham

Born in Cleveland and raised in Miami, he began his interest in photography and architecture in high school and travelled across the continental United States to study on the East Coast in New York, graduating from Cooper Union on New York\'s Upper East Side in 2002, where he founded the design studio Snarkitecture with fellow student Alex Mustonen in 2007. He believes that it is difficult for young artists to wait passively to be discovered. Daniel Arsham was discovered by the owner of Behoten when the Miami Art Basel was in its infancy, and was offered the opportunity to exhibit at Béhoten\'s solo show in Paris in 2005. The same year he was asked by Merce Cunningham to design a dance set. Because of his natural colour blindness, he can only see 20% of what the average person sees, and he has turned this deficiency into an advantage, resulting in a \'monochromatic aesthetic\' as his signature artwork.
