With the stock market going up and down like a rollercoaster, many people are turning to art as a more stable form of investment. While inflationary crises and international currency fluctuations are a common concern, art offers an attractive alternative form of investment, being an internationalised currency in its own right and avoiding the loss of property from devaluation of paper money. Unlike stocks or other investment funds, art collecting is a tangible work that can be appreciated for its aesthetic and historical significance. Over time, an art investment will reveal that some works really do move the heart, and that 'good work' is very difficult to describe. It is always hesitant to spend money on artworks at first, but once you know the artist's creative context, you feel that the purchase is relatively 'worth it' compared to the reputation the artist has built up over the years and the meaning behind the work.
